Industrial diamonds can be synthetic or natural diamonds that are specifically processed for use in industrial applications, not in jewelry.

Industrial diamond is used as an abrasive in grinding wheels to remove material from a workpiece by friction and cutting. As the grinding wheel rotates, the diamond particles (i.e., the abrasive) effectively remove small particles from the workpiece, resulting in the desired geometry, size and finish.
